We are always looking to recruit talented and committed scientists. If you are interested in working in the Roberts Group then please get in touch.

Postdoctoral Positions

Funding for specific projects, when available, is advertised on the University jobs page. At present, we do not have any funded postdoctoral positions. However, we welcome applications for international fellowships. If you are interested in applying for a postdoctoral fellowship, please contact Dr Roberts with a draft project proposal.

PhD Positions
  • Local students: PhD positions are available in our group for all students eligible for financial support from the Australian Government's Research Training Program or another postgraduate scholarship that will cover maintenance.

  • International students: We welcome applicants from international students who are eligible for funding from Scholarships at the University of Sydney, their home country (e.g., CSC Funding) or are self-funded.

If you are interested in doctoral studies in the group then please get in touch as early as possible. An application should consist of your CV, a cover letter, and two reference letters sent by academic mentors who know your work. Information about graduate studies at Sydney University is available on the University website.

Honours Projects

Honours students are able to apply for projects in the Roberts Group for Semester 1 and 2 intake each year. Applications are typically due in November of the previous year for February start (Sem 1), or June for an August start (Sem 2). Please get in touch with Dr Roberts if you are interested in undertaking honours in the group. More information about honours can be found here. A list of available honours project can be found here.

Undergraduate / MSc / Visiting PhD Students

We are happy to accommodate talented and motivated students at various times of the year as undergraduate volunteers or visiting research students. Work is carried out under the guidance of an experienced group member (often this will be Dr Roberts) in the context of an ongoing project.

For undergraduate volunteers, please feel free to contact Dr Roberts any time to see if there are any projects that you would like to join. Research volunteering does not require any formal enrolment, and can be arranged around your schedule.

For visiting research students, please get in touch as soon as possible, as such visits need to be arranged well in advance (6-12 months to ensure visas are processed in time).
